Professional Studio PhotoShoot

This was Lynsay and Roy’s first photo-shoot with their 2 lovely children Cameron and Rachel. Both Cameron and Rachel were a delight to photograph; they both followed my instructions well and were full of angelic smiles and belly laughs during the session. Cameron was able to help me improve my collection of jokes as we exchanged them throughout the entire session. There was a bit of uncertainty about what to wear so I think mum and da brought the children’s entire wardrobe. In the end we fitted in shots with 3 different outfits, plenty of variety.

Studio Photoshoot

I had photographed Cerys and David before in the studio but children grow up so quickly so mum (Carla) wanted some updated images. Cerys was so easy to photograph and enjoyed every minute of the shoot however things were a bit different for David. He just simply was not in the mood even though mum tried her best with chocolate bribery and promises of exiting afternoon activities; however the perseverance paid off and I was able to capture a nice collection of images.

Relaxed and Fun Professional Studio PhotoShoot – Alec Kirkham

Professional Studio PhotoShoot

I am scheduled to photograph Geraldine and Sean’s wedding later this year however they wanted to get some pictures of their two children, Niamh and Erin photographed in a relaxed and fun but at the same time professional studio. Both girls turned up in their very pretty matching dress which made for lovely individual images and also images of the two girls together. I also got mum and dad involved in some of the pictures making for some treasured family shots. Niamh was a little star on the day and was not shy at all about getting her pictures taken and setting a good example for her little sister Erin.

Studio Cake Smash

A cake smash is the perfect way to celebrate a 1st or 2nd birthday

I first photographed Allyssa when she was just 8 days old, now she was returning for some updated photographs for her parents Jenni and David. Jenni originally just want a 1 hour photoshoot in my new studio; however I suggested that we should end the session with a cake smash after all it was Allyssa’s 1st birthday. Jenni had never heard of a cake smash before so I explained what it was all about and let her see some images of previous cake smashes. She thought it would be a great idea so we agreed to add the cake smash to the end of the photoshoot. Allyssa was adorable during here photoshoot with several outfit changes, with 20 minutes to go she was introduced to the cake and her eye lit up. At first she was a bit apprehensive and after many glancing looks at here mum and dad she tentatively tastes the cake; before long she had torn into the cake and had both hand full. I could hardly hold the camera still from laughing as she eagerly munched her was through some rather large chunks of cake, she was loving it. However like all good things it had to end and she was not too happy when she was separated from the cake. Mum and dad quickly cleaned here up while I cleaned up the crumbs and had a sneaky bit of the delicious cake that was left.

The Balancing Act by Alec Kirkham

The balancing act. When photographing high-key portraits there is always a fine balance to get your exposure correct on your subject at the say time getting your background to be pure white. You may just think to turn your background lights up to be as bright as possible thus ensure pure white however you will quickly realise that throwing too much light on the background will have an effect on your subjects exposure and it go go too far then not only will you burn out the background but you will loose edge definition on your subject(s) also. So this balancing act it a challenge when doing high-key portraits however the benefits are well worth it when it come to editing images and creating montages (add multiple images into one seamless image) as the example below demonstrate.

Ensuring I capture in camera a pure white background, with a consistent subject exposure and focal length I can very simply create this style of image.

McIntosh Studio Photoshoot by Alec Kirkham

A few pictures taken from the McIntosh studio photoshoot. For only £90 they received a 1 hours photoshoot using professional studio lighting and camera equipment in order to capture the highest quality digital images. These full sized high resolution images are then reviewed and the best images are selected before being fully edited using photoshop. This editing process is used to enhance the images with processes such as blemish removal, skin smoothing, teeth whitening, etc, before being copied onto DVD. The customer can then use these images without any copyright restrictions to create their own wall art canvas, fill their photo frames, display on digital frames or simply share on Facebook or any other social media sites.

Unlike some other photographers that hold on to the copyright of your images and charge for each print and approx.£25 for a single copy of a digital image my customers get them all as part of the £90 package. For example during this photoshoot 390 images were taken and from these 185 images were selected, edited and supplied on a DVD. Some photographer may only charge £25 for a photoshoot, but to get a copy of all the digital images it would cost you over £4600.
