Today I ran my first camera flash workshop. The venue was the Coatbridge Summerlee Photomedia Studios. I was expecting 14 people to turn up for the workshop however I was some what surprised when 24 people turned up.
I designed the workshop to cover the theory behind flash photography, a summary of the equipment required and then a practical session using different flash equipment/accessories and applying the theory learned during the morning session. Based on the attendees comments and their completed feedback forms it seemed to have went down well.
Special thanks to Angela for being my model for the day and Debbie for assisting, also thanks to David Peace (Photographic Dev Officer) based at the Summerlee Photomedia Studios.
The following gallery of images were all captured during the practical phase of the workshop. Each images contain the flash set-up and camera exif data. The thing to notice in all of these pictures is that the background did not change plus for all of the pictures taken with the flash set to manual the power setting on the flash did not change. All of the changes in these images was as a result of modifying the the light and understanding the basic theories of flash photography.
Note this series of pictures starts with taking “bad” flash pictures right through to how controlling the flash can create a completely different looking set of images.
If anyone else would be interested in attending this workshop please contact me and I can give you some further details.
