Wedding photography Marriott Hotel, Edinburgh

Both Mairi and Lee live in Perth, and that’s not the Perth just up the road that’s the Perth Australia. The couple chose to return to their birth place Scotland so that they could celebrate with their family and friends. I cannot begin to image how difficult it would be to try and plan for a wedding from the other side of the world; however the couple managed it and the day seemed to go without a single hitch.

Laura and Steven’s Wedding – Glenskirlie Castle, Banknock by Alec Kirkham

I started my day by photographing Laura and her bridesmaid’s final preparations at Laura’s house. The boys were getting ready and leaving from a house just around the corner so a quick dash along the street meant I could capture a few images of the men leaving in the wedding cars. Back at the bride’s home there was a last minute panic with the discovered there was only 3 laces for 4 dresses; however thanks to some clever thinking by one of the bridesmaids (Catherine) they did manage to lace up 4 dress only using 3 laces.

House for the Art Lover – Wedding Photography

I have known Debbie for a number of years; we first met after her sister Angela booked me to photographer here wedding back in 2011. Debbie who was a keen amateur photographer at the time had taken a look at my website and was impressed with some of my images. So much so she phoned and asked if there was any chance she could assist me with a wedding shoot. She was keen to see what was involved and learn for the experience. I am always impressed when people show initiative and a willingness to learn so had no hesitation inviting her along to my next booked wedding. Debbie assisted me for a full year and had a great eye for detail and composition. She consistently captured images I had missed or didn’t see during the day; exactly what an assistant/2nd shoot should be doing. Debbie had to hang up her camera and take a step back from weddings when she fell pregnant with their daughter Penny. She did however get in touch straight away when Grant popped the question to make sure I was available to photograph their special day. The venue was to be the House for the Art Lover in Bellahouston park in Glasgow. For those who do not know this building was designed in 1900 for a competition by the famous Scottish architect/designer Charles Rennie Macintosh. For 90 years Mackintosh’s concept remained merely that, an unrealised design on paper, until 1989 when Graham Roxburgh, the Consulting Engineer, who had been responsible for restoring the Mackintosh interiors in nearby Craigie Hall had the idea to build the House for an Art Lover.

Fernie Castle Wedding – Alec Kirkham

I had a fantastic day photographing Lauren and Craig’s wedding day which was set in the spectacular grounds of Fernie Castle close to St Andrews. The weather was good all be it a bit breezy; however that did not put the couple off from having their wedding ceremony outdoors. The day of the wedding was the first time I had met either Lauren and Craig, they were a lovely couple and very at ease getting their picture taken and along with the rest of their family and friend they all made me feel very welcome.
