Andrea & Jim’s Wedding – The Vu Bathgate

This was my final wedding from last year, Due to the time of the year it got dark very early, luckily it was dry, calm and the the setting sun gave us a little bit of a sunset, a perfect recipe for some stunning pictures from the Vu in Bathgate.

Studio Background Exposure

During my recent studio lighting course we were having a discussion about the merits of getting the exposure correct for the backgrounds. I have attached a few images to show the benefits that can be gained with very little Photoshopping involved

100 White BG

I was able to easily crop this image (background colour set to white)

102 White BG

I could also easily replace the white background with any image of choice

101 White BG

This time using a black background and some coloured lighting

200 Black BG

It was easy to replace the background with another image with a similar lighting pattern

201 Black BG

A little time and attention while taking the picture can save you a lot of time when it comes to editing them 🙂

Studio Lighting Workshop

I ran another lighting workshop on Saturday at the Summerlee Photographic Studios. This course was run for 10 delegates with various levels of experience but all with a keen interest in photography  and wanting to know more. The course is run with emphasis on the delegates getting practical experience of using the lights to create interesting/dynamic images and at the same time trying to simplify some of the mysteries around studio lighting. here are just a few of the images taken during the session with some setup information.

If you would like to attend a studio or flash lighting course in order to improve your images please get in touch to discuss availability.

Roslyn & Chris’s Wedding, Ingliston Country Club by Alec Kirkham

I had the pleasure of photographing Roslyn and Chris wedding yesterday at the stunning Ingliston Country Club. The day went without a hitch and even the unpredictable Scottish weather was kind to us. Here are a few of the images taken yesterday. I am still working through the rest of the prints however I am on target to have them all on line by the end of the day so that the couple can have a quick look at them before disappearing off on their honeymoon.photocrati gallery
